The Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan today congratulated the duo of AIG Bankole Lanre Sikiru and CP Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi on their new appointment as the Head of the INTERPOL National Crime Bureau (NCB), Force Criminal Investigations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja and Commissioner of Police in Kwara state respectively.

These appointments followed a track record of exceptional result-oriented performance and operational delivery demonstrated by Bankole and Adelesi who are on the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP) respectively, Trek Africa Newspaper can report.

Affirming that the new appointees are deserving of the roles, the Chairman of Executive Group, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan remarked about the new AIG of INTERPOL, “AIG Lanre Bankole is the man for the job. Having monitored his progression many years ago and since his days as Commissioner of Police in Ogun state, I have no doubt that he will do exceedingly well on this role.”

“AIG Sikiru Lanre Bankole is an affable personality. He is well-grounded in the guiding laws and principles which govern policing both within Nigeria and in the international front. He has the knack for working with various people from different backgrounds, cultures, and races. I wish him well on this new job”, Ogunsan told Trek Africa Newspaper.

In the same vein, Dr. Ogunsan noted that the first-ever female CP in Kwara state, CP Ebun Adelesi is a crime-fighter par excellence. “I am very excited about this new development to CP Ebun Adelesi. Her progressive stance on policing excellence has paid off.

She will do well in Kwara state. And she will be a good pointer of the possibility of the large population of female officers that we have spread in the Nigeria Police currently. I dare say that Nigeria is on the path of having her first female IGP soon.”

“Let me also use this medium to appreciate the acting IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for the giant strides he has taken since his appointment. Your recent appointments are best fit for the job. We expect more from you, sir. I am sure that you will bring all your years of hardwork, experience, expertise, and goodwill into your role as Nigeria’s no. 1 cop.”

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the new Head of the INTERPOL NCB, AIG Sikiru Bankole was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1990. He holds a Degree in Law and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He has attended several leadership and strategic courses within and outside Nigeria including UN Logistics Officers Course, Ghana; Workshop on Financial Crime Investigation, Badagry; UNODC and Interpol Conference on Drug Trafficking, Spain; Workshop on Africa Border Security, South Africa; International Conference on Drug Trafficking, Taiwan; INTERPOL General Assembly, Chile.

Further, he has served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities within the Force including as DCP INTERPOL and CP INTERPOL, FCID Abuja and CP Ogun State.

For the Kwara CP popularly known as ‘Iron Lady’, CP Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) when the Acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun was Kwara CP. It was in Kwara that she was promoted Commissioner of Police following which she was redeployed to Lagos State Command as CP General Investigation.

“Adelesi’s crime-fighting capacity and combat readiness was affirmed by officers at the Command who worked with her. She was described as a diligent and no-nonsense officer, qualities which earned her the nickname ‘Iron Lady’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.
