GM OREAGBA CAUTIONS LASTMA OFFICERS:
‘DECORUM AND CIVILITY’ ARE STANDARDS FOR YOUR DUTY; OFFICER IN TRENDING VIDEO TO FACE DISCIPLINARY ACTION

The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authourity (LASTMA), Mr Bolaji Oreagba has cautioned the officers of the agency to ensure decorum and civility while discharging their duties on the road and in public domain.

This note of caution was given by the administrator in the light of a trending video online where Alabi Olanipekun, a LASTMA officer was recorded assaulting an alleged traffic offender within the yard of the agency at Ilasan, Lagos.

The General Manager, in a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by the agency’s Spokesperson, Mr. Filade Olumide, affirmed that the officer, Mr. Olanipekun would face disciplinary action as enshrined in the extant rules and regulations of the civil service while necessary punishment will be applied according to the provisions of the law.

He further admonished other officers that henceforth ‘any official found to have acted unprofessionally in the discharge of his duties would have himself to blame. This is because such action negates the training and retraining invested in them by the State Government.’

In the same vein, Oreagba met with the complainant, Edenze Daniel Uchenna in his office. He assured him that disciplinary action will be meted out to the erring officer.

The visibly satisfied complainant, Edenze thanked the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the actions taken so far. He also appreciated the General Manager and the entire Management of LASTMA for granting him audience noting that he was not well informed that he could obtain redress easily from LASTMA.

The LASTMA GM Oreagba, then used to opportunity to enjoin road users to always abide by the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018 as enacted by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

This is so that we can all together move the State forward to a greater height in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda for the development of Lagos State.
