The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Monday decorated newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), charging them to intensify intelligence-led policing and strengthen operational coordination across the country, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The decoration ceremony, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, marked a significant step in the ongoing leadership restructuring within the aimed at improving national security operations.

Addressing the senior officers shortly after the decoration, IGP Disu urged them to prioritise proactive intelligence gathering, deepen collaboration with other security agencies, and ensure seamless coordination among police commands nationwide.

According to him, modern policing requires a strong intelligence framework capable of anticipating and neutralising emerging security threats before they escalate.

Disu emphasised that inter-agency cooperation remains critical to tackling Nigeria’s complex security challenges, noting that synergy between the police, military, and other security institutions would significantly enhance operational effectiveness.

He also reminded the newly promoted DIGs that their appointments come with heightened responsibility to provide strategic leadership, maintain discipline within the ranks, and ensure that policing operations remain professional and accountable.

The police chief further reiterated the commitment of the to strengthening internal reforms, improving intelligence capabilities, and enhancing public confidence in law enforcement.

The decoration of the new DIGs forms part of broader efforts by the police leadership under Disu to reposition the force for more responsive and technology-driven policing in the face of evolving security threats across the country.
