IYA OLOJA GENERAL OF LAGOS: TOO MANY ANTICS WILL BLEED LAGOS

How do we explain the persistent and over bearing pressures Market Traders and Market Developers get from the Iya Oloja General of Lagos State, Chief (Mrs) Folasade Tinubu-Ojo. It has been a terrible, sad story since she assumed that role after the demise of her grandmother.

Her activities have impeded the operations of the market in Lagos. Several undercuts were orchestrated by her office. She has dragged the revered traditional office into the mud several times.

Investors ought to be applauded for their interest in financing the redevelopment of most markets in Lagos rather than be intimidated by using the influence of her father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She has succeeded at different times in harassing most of the Chief Executives of the Local Government Councils.

We have it on good authority that she is on the payroll of all the Local Government Councils and Council Development Areas in Lagos State. She receives an undisclosed monthly allocation from the Lagos State government to cater for all Iya Olojas in the various Local Government Councils.

Sadly, she does not carry out this task; rather, she has turned these Iya Olojas into her puppets.

Her uncharitable conduct is also one of the major reasons some sections of indigenous Lagosians are vehemently resisting endorsing her Father’s presidential ambitions in Lagos State.

Her reign as Iya Oloja General of Lagos State is a complete departure from the peaceful tenure of Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji.

Why won’t the newly redeveloped markets in Lagos State be out of the reach of the people when Chief Folasade Tinubu-Ojo forcefully collects a huge undisclosed amount of money from investors, including not less than twenty (20) shops from the new markets. She is the major reason why most redeveloped markets are completely out of the reach of former owners.

All efforts to reach her to confirm if she truly collected the undisclosed amount from the investors at the time of filing this report proved abortive.

It is time for her to allow reason and logic to take preeminence in her conduct, at least in the interest of the common people of Lagos State. Ordinarily, one would have expected a complete toning down of her conduct, at least in the interest of her father’s Presidential ambitions.

She has too many antics and is truly bleeding Lagos State undeservingly.
