Traditionalists Celebrate 2022 Festival, Emphasize Herb Potency

Some traditionalists, under the auspices of the Association of African Traditional Religion of Nigeria (AATRN) on Saturday celebrated its 2022 Annual Festival known as (Isese Day).


The festival, a traditional replica of Christmas celebration, was to remind people of their root before the advent of western culture and civilization.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Lagos reports that, the event that began with traditional rites, pouring of libration to sanctify the palace and people, at the Oba Tijani Akinloye OON, Sateru ll, Ojomu of Ajiran Land, Ikate Lagos palace culminated at the palace of Oba Saheed Ademola-Elegushi, Kusela lll with the parade of traditional religion groups with herbs presentations by different groups.

 

The groups, dressed in traditional white regalia, chanted incantations alongside tunes from the traditional praise singers; made presentation herbs, paid hommage to the traditional ruler, who blessed them in return.

In his remark at the event, the Chief Host of the event, Oba Akinloye, urged people to live in peace with one another, tasked practitioners to widen their scope and ensure that unforeseen diseases such as Ebola Monkeypox were taken care of through herbs.

 

“We have reach the stage as a people were diseases should not be a challenge to our people. Our good works should begin to manifest in every facet of our national life.

 

“God gave us those herbs to enable us use against illness. We should prove to the outside world the potency and efficacy of our herbs by conducting pro-life researches and package for export to the world market,” he said.

 

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the event, Chief Nosifu Ibadiaran, the Ashipa of Ajiran Land said the event was a reunion of brotherhood and faithful for a greater accomplishment.

 

According to him the association is the umbrella of all traditional groups in Nigeria. It was formerly known as Ancient Religion Societies of African Descendants Association (ARSADA)

 

He further said that the organisation was formed to promote the spirit of friendship, mutual trust and cooperation among faithful.

 

He tasked practitioners to foresighted in the profession to remain relevant in the society.
