13 YEARS BLACKOUT: Power will be restored to southern area of Ondo State – Commissioner for Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources assures.

After a 13 years Blackout to the southern area of Ondo State, the newly established ministry commissioner has promised Southerners that electricity will be restored in the area in due time.

Engr. Razaq Obe, the Commissioner for Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, revealed that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu established the new Ministry to address the state’s electricity crisis, which has lasted over 13 years.

After a roundtable meeting with traditional rulers from Ondo South and the consultant in charge of the energy project in the area. The Hope news correspondent who was at the scene reported that everything needed to be done to ensure the Southern half of Ondo was electrified as soon as feasible has been put in place as said by the commissioner.

While acknowledging that electricity is critical to any community’s development, he stated that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was ready to invest the necessary resources to ensure power supply in the area, and that the Ministry would work with stakeholders in Ondo South to ensure that all obstacles to the project’s success were overcome.

“Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN established this ministry to address several issues, particularly the electricity crisis in the Southern part of the state, and he is making progress,” he said. He wants to hear that we’re finished, and he’s not going to take any excuses. He simply wants results right now.

“So, with all of the projects in the pipeline and everything we’re doing right now, I’m confident that the power crisis in Ondo South will be solved in no time, and the stability of energy in Ondo state as a whole will vastly improve.”

He urged all stakeholders, particularly those in the South, to use power properly, warning that power theft would not be tolerated and that those found guilty would face the law.

While stating that the state government was collaborating with zone leaders and residents, the commissioner stated that the project will be aggressively pursued in the following months to ensure that electricity was restored to the Southern zone.

“We’re here to move things forward from where they are to where they need to be.” “We want to have electricity in a sustainable way, where people pay for it, infrastructure is maintained, and all of the components of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution function well,” he said.

The Chairman of the Ondo South Power Committee, Oba Festus Olumoyegun, the Oniju of Iju-Odo, also spoke after the meeting, describing it as a success and expressing the willingness of the people of the South to work with the state government to ensure that power was restored to the area after a 13-year blackout.

“Because we have been suffering for the past 13 years, we are willing to cooperate.” From what we’ve seen today, there’s a favorable response, and I’m confident that things will be accomplished. “I am confident that we will arrive at our destination,” he stated.

“We have been talking about this, that very soon, before the second quarter of this year, power will start to radiate,” the project’s consultant, Mr Andrew Idowu Desmennu, said when asked when the zone will be powered.

“Everything that needs to be done has already been done.” The NDPHC is currently working on a number of issues, particularly those in which they lack authority. They are presently expanding it to Araromi Obu from that rubber plantation. They’re extending power to Oku again, this time behind OSUSTECH.

“Then there’s Erinje, where the line is completely down and they’re working on it.” Six feeders are being run throughout the five local government areas.
