IGP, OBA OF LAGOS EULOGISE RETIRING POLICE DETECTIVES

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, have eulogised 24 retiring detectives and police officers of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for their decades of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation.
The commendations were made during an elaborate retirement ceremony organised by the Lagos State Police Command to mark the completion of 35 years of meritorious service by the retiring officers.
The event, organised under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani, brought together senior police officers, traditional leaders, colleagues, family members and well-wishers to celebrate the retirees and honour their contributions to policing and public safety.
Representing the department, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin, commended the retiring officers for their selfless service, commitment and dedication to the Nigeria Police Force.
DCP Akinbisehin noted that the officers had devoted significant portions of their lives to investigating crimes, protecting lives and property, and contributing to the security of the nation.
He described their retirement as not merely the end of a career but the culmination of 35 years of sacrifice, professionalism and service to humanity.
The traditional institution also recognised the immense contributions of the retiring officers.
Speaking at the historic occasion, the Oba of Lagos, HRM Oba Rilwan Akiolu, who was represented by the White Cap Chiefs, lauded the outgoing officers for their years of dedicated service.
The monarch acknowledged the wealth of experience accumulated by the officers during their careers, stressing that such experience and their record of selfless service remain valuable assets to the nation.
He commended the retirees for their commitment to duty and urged them to remain available to contribute their wealth of experience to society even after leaving active police service.
The ceremony therefore served not only as a farewell to the 24 retiring officers but also as a recognition of their 35 years of sacrifice, professionalism and contribution to the Nigeria Police Force.
The occasion ended on a celebratory note as colleagues, friends and family members joined in honouring the retirees for their years of service and wishing them a fulfilling and peaceful post-service life.
