The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, has today passed a clear note of warning to officers and men under the Command over various reports of extortion and unprofessional conduct, stating that any erring officers will not be spared from the wrath of the law.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP by Zonal Command Spokesperson, SP Umma Ayuba stated that, “The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 2 Command comprising Lagos and Ogun States, AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, B.Sc., LLB, BL, LLM, in a lecture with officers and men of the Zonal Command 13th February, 2024, at the MD. Abubakar Conference Hall, Onikan, Lagos, expresses his dissatisfaction with reports of extortion and unprofessional conduct, with a clear note of warning that erring officers will not be spared from the wrath of the law.”

According to the statement, “He averred the need for technology-driven policing to curb crime and criminality along the highways in both Lagos and Ogun States, having a vast knowledge of the terrain, while re-emphasizing the need to work in collaboration with major relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe environment for members of the public.”

AIG Durosinmi admonishes officers and men to always imbibe the fear of God and professionalism in the discharge of their statutory duties, taking into consideration the fact that the public expects more from the Police as the lead agency in internal security; being mindful of the effect of their actions or inactions on their children, relatives, loved ones, and the general public.

The AIG, while reiterating his commitment to crime fighting, enjoins members of the public to always cooperate with the Nigeria Police Force in the fight against insecurity by providing relevant information and support when necessary. He further stressed on the need to say something when they see something.
