NCJTFLCA Suspends Dr. Basil Nwolisa Over Alleged Corruption, Abuse of Power, Misconduct

The National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA) has announced the indefinite suspension of its Interim National President, Dr. Basil Nwolisa, following allegations bordering on misconduct, abuse of office, corruption and misrepresentation.
Dr. Nwolisa was inaugurated as the Interim National President of the NCJTFLCA on April 2, 2025, with the mandate of promoting transparency, accountability and curbing corruption within the maritime and logistics sector.
However, the organisation alleged that the suspended president used his position to mislead unsuspecting individuals into purchasing non-existent auction containers purportedly linked to the Nigeria Customs Service, an incident said to have resulted in legal proceedings and his earlier detention at Ikoyi Prison this year.
According to the NCJTFLCA, Dr. Nwolisa was also accused of diverting funds donated to the organisation into personal accounts allegedly identified as Fidelity Bank Account No. 4020534715, Dr. Basil Nwolisa, and Peacetoks Books Enterprise, Moniepoint Account No. 80255838.
The organisation further alleged that he fraudulently withdrew the sum of ₦1,000,000 from the organisation’s account, claiming the money was a personal gift from a friend.
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the NCJTFLCA reportedly issued Dr. Nwolisa a formal query requesting explanations over the allegations. However, rather than responding to the allegations, the suspended president allegedly launched attacks against members of the BoT.
Consequently, the BoT suspended him from office and subsequently issued a public disclaimer distancing the organisation from a publication credited to him, which accused officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service of lateness to duty.
The suspension was formally conveyed in a letter dated May 19, 2026, directing Dr. Nwolisa to surrender all properties belonging to the NCJTFLCA in his possession.
The organisation stated that in view of the allegations and other matters reportedly pending before the police and the courts, Dr. Nwolisa will remain suspended as National President of the NCJTFLCA until he clears himself of all allegations against him.
The suspension, according to the organisation, took effect from Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
