OWO MASSACRE:  Bola Tinubu, APC National Leader and Presidential Aspirant, Visits Owo, Donates N75 Million to Victims

• Expressed his sadness over the tragic incident, says it is horrible

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the Progressives Congress (APC) and a frontline presidential aspirant, promised on Monday to work with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to bring relief to the victims of the Owo massacre.

During a condolence visit to the Palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye and Arakunrin Akeredolu, Tinubu condemned the violent attack on innocent worshippers and described the attack as an evil that must be defeated, saying there is no place in our country for such hatred and wanton taking of innocent lives.

On Sunday, gunmen stormed St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, killing over 30 people, the majority of whom were children and women.

Before visiting the church for an on-the-spot assessment, Asiwaju Tinubu pledged N50 million to the victims and another N25 million to the Owo Catholic Church.

Tinubu expressed his sadness over the tragic incident, saying that the South West had never seen such a large-scale attack before, calling it “horrible.”

The APC presidential candidate urged the federal and state governments to collaborate to improve security across the country.

Governor Akeredolu, who praised Tinubu for suspending his presidential campaign less than 24 hours before the APC convention, promised to either bring the attackers to justice or bring justice to them.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Chairman of TETFUND, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, former APC National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Chief Pius Akinyelure, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro, accompanied Tinubu on the trip to Owo.
