In the early hours of Saturday, 19th April 2025, a restaurant building collapsed at Nos. 9 and 10 Oremeta Street, Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State. The incident involved a three-storey structure, prompting immediate response from emergency management agencies and first responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
As of 02:41 a.m this morning, the following updates have been confirmed:
• Total number of victims: 17
• Rescued alive: 12
• Recovered dead: 5(3FA and 2MA)
The affected site has been completely cordoned off to facilitate secure and efficient rescue operations.
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command continues to provide support with active involvement of all other relevant stakeholders including National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA),Tiger Response Team (Command & Control, Alausa), Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and more.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and cooperate with emergency responders to aid quick evacuation of the trapped victims.
Also, heavy and light rescue equipment have been deployed for the rescue and search operation
The search and rescue operation is still ongoing. Further updates will be communicated as the situation develops.
