The Managing Director/CEO of Executive Hotel and Suites, Ajoke Olufunmilola Ogunsan, has called on Nigerian women to embrace audacity as a transformative force to unlock new levels of excellence, success, and healing.
Delivering the keynote address at the 5th edition of the Multi-Woman Conference held in Lagos on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Ogunsan urged women to rise above fear, societal limitations, and self-doubt.
She described audacity not as arrogance, but as a necessary virtue for progress. According to her, “Audacity should never be confused with arrogance. It is not pride, disrespect, or overconfidence. True audacity is courage guided by wisdom. It is the inner voice that says, ‘Yes, this is difficult but I will still try.’”
The conference, themed “Unleash: Unlocking New Levels of Excellence, Audacity, Success and Healing,” brought together professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from across sectors.
Ogunsan emphasized that many individuals carry untapped greatness constrained by fear and societal expectations. She noted that gatherings like the conference create opportunities for ideas to flourish and courage to be awakened.
The event featured a diverse lineup of speakers including Nollywood actor Juliana Olayode, psychiatrist Adeola Adeyemi, academic Tosin Ayanleke, media producer Victoria Nduka, fintech product leader Praise Agbonighale, and head of accounts at Baobab Nigeria Mercy Obasi-Jude. The session was moderated by communication coach Jadesola Adewonu.
In her address, Ogunsan described women as “architects of society,” emphasizing their role in shaping values, nurturing leadership, and driving transformation. She stated that excellence, competence, vision, and leadership transcend gender.
She also highlighted notable Nigerian women including Oluremi Tinubu, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Mo Abudu, Nike Davies-Okundaye, and Ola Orekunrin Brown, noting that their achievements reflect the power of audacity.
Ogunsan further paid tribute to the late Dora Akunyili, citing her courage in combating counterfeit drugs as a defining example of audacity in action.
Drawing from her personal journey as a gospel music minister and entrepreneur, she explained how bold initiatives such as her Christian Gospel Talent Quest and concert, Symphony of Praise and Worship (SPAW), were driven by a vision to create opportunities and unlock hidden talents.
She encouraged women to harness their innate strengths, particularly their ability to multitask, describing it as a “superpower,” while affirming that faith and determination make all things possible.
In her opening remarks, the convener of the conference, Mary Ayuba, stressed the importance of unity among women to achieve collective progress and national development.
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of the newly launched Multi-Woman Magazine, which was distributed to all attendees as part of efforts to promote women supporting women.
Ogunsan concluded her keynote with a call to action, urging women to unleash excellence in their professions, audacity in their ambitions, and healing in their lives.
