Boy-Child Transformation Centre Marks 5th Anniversary With Summit, Unveils “UNBOXED” Playbook in Lagos
By The The The People’s Voice Nigeria News
The Boy-Child Transformation Centre (BTC), a social intervention and advocacy platform focused on the development of the boy-child, has announced its 5th Anniversary Transformation Summit scheduled to hold on May 16, 2026, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The high-level summit is expected to bring together corporate executives, policymakers, educators, parents, and mental health advocates to examine what BTC describes as a growing but often overlooked crisis affecting the boy-child, with long-term implications for families, communities, and future leadership development.
A key highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood, an execution playbook authored by BTC Founder and growth strategist, Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel, who also serves as Managing Director/CEO of Avenu Growth Consulting Group.
According to the organisation, the book and summit theme confront what it calls the “MACHO Box” a societal framework that discourages emotional expression in boys, equates vulnerability with weakness, and contributes to unhealthy coping behaviours.
“For too long, the world has operated on a dangerous default: assuming the boy-child will simply figure it out on his own. He is not figuring it out; he is quietly collapsing in plain sight,” said Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel. “When we deny our boys emotional literacy, we are not just failing our sons, we are destabilising our homes, fracturing our communities, and eroding our future leadership. UNBOXED is our playbook for intervention. We are actively dismantling these toxic labels to engineer a generation of boys equipped with cognitive empathy, ethical grit, and the freedom to be fully human.”
Key Highlights of the BTC@5 Summit
The anniversary summit will feature several key sessions and engagements, including:
- Book Unveiling of UNBOXED – A first public presentation of the book, which explores the intersection of behavioural psychology, parenting, and leadership development.
- ₦1,000,000 WIMS Challenge Final Pitch – The final stage of the Walk-in-My-Shoes (WIMS) advocacy initiative, where young boys will present peer-driven solutions to societal challenges, competing for a ₦1,000,000 grand prize.
BTC stated that the summit is designed to serve as a pivotal moment in reframing conversations around boy-child development, moving from awareness to structured, practical intervention strategies.
The organisation added that the 5th anniversary event represents a continued commitment to reshaping narratives around masculinity, emotional intelligence, and leadership preparation for boys in contemporary society.
