“Not by struggle, not by emptying the treasury, but by divine ordination”
Last week, history was made in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2, Lagos. The New Democratic Congress, NDC, conducted its primaries and by the verdict of the people, Hon. Okey-Joe Onukalusi, MHR was declared winner.
It was not a victory purchased with struggle or the emptying of the treasury. It was a victory by divine ordination. What God has said, no man can stop. What God ordains, no cabal can reverse.
The Rejected Stone Becomes Cornerstone
Psalm 118:22 says, “The stone the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” That scripture came alive in Oshodi-Isolo 2.
For years, Hon. Okey-Joe was counted out by political calculations. Some said he lacked the “money power”. Others said the structure was against him. But the people saw something different: performance, humility, and consistency.
While others were busy emptying treasuries to buy loyalty, Hon. Okey-Joe was busy delivering projects, opening doors for youths, empowering women, and standing with constituents in their pain. The people remembered. The people rewarded. The people chose.
A Win for the People, By the People
This victory is not Hon. Okey-Joe’s alone. It belongs to the good people of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 — traders in Oshodi Market, youths in Isolo, mothers in Okota, artisans in Ejigbo. You are a people who appreciate good things and reward performance over propaganda. You chose competence. You chose character. You chose continuity of service.
“What God Says Must Be Done”
In a season where politics is often reduced to struggle and money, this win reminds us that there is still a God who enthrones and dethrones. Hon. Okey-Joe himself has dedicated the victory to God and to the people, saying: “It was not by my power. What God says must be done.”
The message is clear: when God is involved, the campaign is calm. When God is involved, the treasury is not emptied. When God is involved, the people become the structure.
The Work Continues
Primaries are done. The real work begins now. Oshodi-Isolo 2 expects more roads, more jobs, more youth empowerment, and more voices for the masses at the National Assembly.
With this divine mandate, Hon. Okey-Joe is set to do even more — because a man lifted by God will never oppress the people who lifted him.
Congratulations, Hon. Okey-Joe Onukalusi, MHR.
Congratulations, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2.
The stone has become the cornerstone. The win is for the people. And it will all end in praise.
