By: People’s Voice Nigeria | News
Mr. Lanre Adisa, a Nigerian journalist and 1994/1996 alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, is presently down with Liver Cancer.
Adisa needs over N3.5 million as he battles liver cancer. He has appealed to Nigerians, public-spirited individuals, corporate organisations, and colleagues in the journalism profession to come to his aid.
In his appeal to some friends through social media platforms, Adisa said, “Please help me beg our mates not to abandon me at this stage; this is the time I need them most. As we are equally starving, that is why I’m soliciting for help. You know l have not been working for some time.
“At least, if it’s one of the levatinib and the Oncoxin (medications), the pain is becoming unbearable for me. Please help me use your clout.”
Popularly called ‘Chief’, Adisa’s predicament began over a year ago when the doctors diagnosed Liver Cancer and have been in and out of the hospital. Adisa has put in over 25 years into the practice of journalism. He was a former Deputy Editor with News of the People magazine and later edited Grassroots Magazine, based in Ogba, Lagos. His last media was at Scroll Magazine, where he was the Business Editor before going into private business.
In an interview, Lanre Adisa said medical checkups and drugs at 10-day intervals cost about N300,000.
He is said to require the sum of N3.5 million (Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand naira) for both operation and drugs.
One of his contacts, Wale Olasumade appeals, “Please, friends, well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and the general public, kindly assist. No amount is too small to support this cause. I pray we will not lose him in Jesus’ name.”
