IGP Disu Visits Nigeria Immigration Service, Strengthens Border Security and Intelligence Cooperation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration as he paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit, which forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation among security agencies, focused on strengthening border security management, intelligence sharing, and joint operational strategies to combat cross-border crimes.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP’s visit underscores the importance of synergy among security institutions in addressing evolving national security challenges.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 21st April 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters, Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in border security management and intelligence sharing,” the statement read.
During the engagement, the IGP emphasised the need for stronger institutional cooperation in tackling transnational and cross-border crimes, noting that effective border control remains critical to Nigeria’s overall security architecture.
He further stressed the importance of enhanced coordination mechanisms, joint training initiatives, and real-time intelligence exchange between agencies, reaffirming the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to deepen collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service to improve operational efficiency and national security outcomes.
In her response, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to inter-agency partnership and national security coordination.
She also highlighted the Service’s ongoing collaboration with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Nigeria, particularly in the areas of border security management, transnational crime prevention, and intelligence sharing.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to sustained cooperation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s border security framework and improving overall national safety.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its dedication to continued collaboration with sister security agencies in advancing effective and coordinated national security operations.
